Roll Wrapping and Handling System

Wickliffe, KY

Industry: Pulp and Paper

Project Scope

CR Meyer was the general contractor responsible for the installation of a new Metso StreamLine Pro wrapping and handling system. Constructability reviews were held early in the project to reduce potential risks due to subgrade ground water. Minimizing the foundation pit depths reduced costs and eliminated the risks associated with dewatering the site. The fully automated roll wrapping and handling system included a modularized high capacity StreamLine Pro kraft roll wrapper with four industrial robots. The new conveyor system collects rolls from the paper machine and the off-machine coater areas and brings them to the new wrapper. After rolls are wrapped and labeled, they are moved to either the “in process” area or shipping warehouse. All actuators are electric or pneumatic.

Our crews were responsible for the demolition and excavation required to prepare the existing building for the new installation. We also installed the concrete foundations, equipment, and piping for the new wrapping and handling system.

Everyone was extremely impressed with how quickly and efficiently the CR Meyer crew was able to get the additional braces and extensions in place. I received multiple compliments on how well they worked and how easy they were to work with.
