Skilled Trades

Carpenters

Carpenters measure, saw, level, fasten wood and other building materials. In heavy industrial settings, they most often build intricate forms and drive piles for the strongest of foundations. Carpenters make up the largest single group of skilled workers in the country. To be a carpenter is to be a member of the oldest and most respected trades in the world. The trade’s varied work today stems from the many products that once were made entirely of wood.
