Project Scope

Installation of a new 20 MW Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant for the Chesapeake Utility Corporation at the Eight Flags Energy Amelia Island plant in Fernandina Beach Florida. Awarded CHP Project of the Year in 2016.

CR Meyer was the overall general contractor for the project, overseeing all aspects of the construction installation.  CR Meyer self-performed installation of the foundations, structural steel, pipe bridge and platforms, turbine, HRSG, and piping.  The project also required installation of a new control room and MCC room.

Project Stats

  • Provides almost 50% of local island’s power needs
  • Provides steam to Rayonier Performance Fibers plant
The final result is nothing short of remarkable and field rework was minimal. A special thanks to the managers, engineers and designers, whose attention to safety, cleanliness, quality of work, and perception to detail, was beyond reproach.
