Tissue Machine and Converting Expansion

Beech Island, SC

Industry: Pulp and Paper

Project Scope

CR Meyer was asked to assist in the preparation of an Engineering Design Report (EDR) for a new tissue machine. This study is similar to a Class 10 Study. Once the EDR was approved, CR Meyer was selected to be the Design Build General Contractor for the project. The scope of the project included the relocation of an existing substation; trailer parking for 500 semi-trailers; expansion and relocation of raw water treatment system; a new manufacturing building which is in excess of 850,000 square feet under the roof; expansion of the stock prep area; installation of five new converting lines; demolition of the existing Automated Storage Retrieval System building; and construction of a new finished products warehouse.

The quality of work and management helped these start-ups set a new benchmark for the machines. CR Meyer demonstrated their ability to be the general contractor of major installations by quickly resolving any subcontractor trades or billing issues and coordinating multiple disciplines in a limited work space.
